PTA Clarifies Reports of Blocking Unregistered VPNs
Recent media reports about the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) blocking VPNs are misleading, the PTA spokesperson clarified on Tuesday.
The PTA is not blocking VPNs in Pakistan. However, it is urging IT companies, software houses, freelancers, banks, and similar entities to register their IPs for VPN usage. This registration ensures that their internet services remain unaffected in case of any disruptions.
VPN registration is a simple process, available through a “one-window operation” on the PTA and PSEB websites. The process is free and takes just 2 to 3 days.
