Mobile Phone Services Will Be Unavailable

Peshawar will implement a targeted mobile phone service suspension on September 22 to coincide with the Medical and Dental College Entrance Test (MDCAT). The decision, announced by the Commissioner of Peshawar, aims to ensure the integrity of the examination by curbing cheating and other illicit activities. The mobile blackout will last four hours, aligning with the exam’s duration, and will affect areas surrounding all examination centers.

To facilitate the suspension, the Commissioner’s office has formally requested the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to implement the localized network shutdown. The letter sent to PTA outlines the reasons behind the temporary service interruption.

In addition to the mobile service suspension, signal jamming devices will be installed inside and outside the examination halls. Authorities have also enforced Section 144 around test centers, prohibiting unauthorized gatherings to minimize disruptions.
