IT Ministry Clarifies PTA’s Role in Firewall Project
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has clarified that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is not responsible for funding, procurement, appointments, or operations related to any national-level firewall project.
This clarification was provided in a written response to questions raised in the Senate.
The Ministry also addressed the issue of slow WhatsApp speeds reported in August. MoITT intervened and took up the matter with telecom operators. By the first week of September, the operators had resolved the issues affecting WhatsApp’s performance.
